Jennifer Lawrence, born August 15, 1990, in Louisville, Kentucky, began her acting career after leaving school at 14 and moving to New York. She debuted in 2006 on Monk, gained recognition with Side Effects (2010), and achieved global fame as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games series (2012–2015), which earned $2.9 billion at the box office. She won an Oscar for The Hunger Games and received nominations for Joy (2015) and Gold (2016).
