Before acting, she was a professional taekwondo athlete, holding a 3rd-degree black belt and becoming one of Canada's youngest instructors at age 16. Winnick began her film career in the early 2000s, gaining international recognition in 2013 for her role as Lagertha in the historical series "Vikings."
